2026 Bushfire Relief Efforts

We’d like to thank our incredible community for once again showing up and donating what was most needed during the current bushfire crisis. In a 2 day callout, we gathered a massive amount of goods for Out of the Woods who were helping companion animals affected by the fires but our main focus was on injured wildlife in partnership with Bushfire Wildlife Rescue & Support

Thank you to those who delivered much needed food aid to the Seikh Volunteers Australia. And those who donted fruit in a quick urgent callout to help 4 shelters. Also to those who helped get clothes for a teenage girl who's family lost everything in the fires and Rainbow Childcare for proving snacks for the firies at Airey's Inlet taken up by the lovely Pippa Bolton . A quick callout was made for large cages to take injured birds inside out of the 45 degree heat & we also received a medium sized bonus cage!

Together, we supported at least 17 wildlife shelters and 2 charities, delivering multiple truckloads of vital supplies. By day two, we even had three large round bales of hay delivered directly into the region!

Thank you to Georgina Oxley and Charn for generously loaning their premises as donation hubs during the first week, and to Glen Eira City Council for providing a room so we could sort donations and get aid out quickly where it was needed most.

We activated our crisis fund and spent over $8,000 on vital wildlife medical supplies, feed and petrol vouchers to support many wildlife shelters on the ground. Special thanks to Humane Animal Rescue whose donations went out to 2nd Chance Cat Rescue, Chelsea Community Support & Pets Of The Homeless Australia. Also to Eco Store, Paragon Care,Your Dentistree and St John Ambulance Victoria for your extremely generous donations.

If we’ve accidentally missed anyone, please accept our apologise, the days have been long and the pace incredibly fast.

Heartfelt thanks to our core bushfire response team: Jodie (Bushfire Wildlife Rescue & Support), Louise Black, Kristan Edwards, and Louise Grande; who each brought different and essential skill sets, making this a highly effective and impactful aid drive. Also a big thank you to Leah from KCP for her vital contributions. This truly was teamwork at it’s best.

We are also proud that we guided people to donate money directly to numerous shelters fundraising accounts so they could purchases much needed aid from their local suppliers and inject funds back into their local economies.

The following wildlife shelters and charities benefited from your extraordinary generosity, plus even more through Warriors 4 Wildlife who received 400-500 pouches, liners, nests & hammocks made by our community :

· Narbview Wildlife Shelter

· Redbox Wildlife Shelter

· Peechelba Wildlife Rescue

· Rescue Rehabilitate Release

· McIntyre Wildlife

· Tiny But Wild Wildlife Shelter

· Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter

· The Haven

· Bayside Bat Rescue

· Out of the Woods

· Help for Wildlife

· Bendigo Wildlife Rescue

· Mt Alexander Animal Welfare

· Salvum Wildlife Shelter

While we are proud of what was achieved, the lack of a dedicated space we could manage, created immense challenges, including repeated and unnecessary moving of goods. Working 18–22 hour days, largely due to these limitations, is not sustainable.

Without secure, accessible space to sort and dispatch aid rapidly, we will unfortunately be unable to run large scale emergency callouts like this in the future. This remains one of our most urgent priorities if we are to continue responding effectively when disaster strikes. In the meantime we will continue to respond to individual requests for help in bushfire relief.
