While our initiatives vary, these are items we consistently need to support our ongoing work and community programs.

Old Mobile Phones

We’re proud to be an official partner of DV Safe Phone, a registered charity that refurbishes donated phones and supplies them to domestic violence survivors.

A working mobile phone can mean independence, and a crucial connection to emergency services, support, and loved ones. By donating your old phone, you can help make a meaningful difference.

All 4G-compatible phones, regardless of brand, can be repurposed, while non-working devices can be used for spare parts.

Before donating, make sure you sign out of any Apple ID or Google accounts and perform a factory reset on your device. If your phone is an iPhone it must have its iCloud removed to be able to go to a victim-survivor, otherwise we will recycle it.

Prescription Glasses

We are always grateful to receive donations of pre-loved prescription glasses for both adults and children. Glasses that are no longer needed by one person can make a meaningful difference to someone else, helping individuals experiencing crisis access the vision support they need.

Please note: We collect prescription glasses only, not glasses cases. Please remove any cases before donating.

10 Cent Recyclables

You can turn your empty bottles and cans into funds for Bayside Community Emergency Relief under the Victoria Container Deposit Scheme.

You can donate your 10¢ recyclable bottles and cans at any container deposit centre and turn your bottles into support for a good cause! All you need is our code: C2000009172

Money raised goes towards our many initiatives including domestic violence, homeless, vulnerable children and elderly, emergencies etc.

Soft Toys for Children

If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing, or making handmade toys, we’d be incredibly grateful if you could create a few for our Children’s Packs!

We welcome handmade toys of all kinds, as long as they meet a few simple requirements to ensure they are safe, practical, and suitable for inclusion in our packs.

  • A Comforting Size: Each toy should be at least 25 cm so it’s large enough for a child to cuddle and hold close.

  • Soft and Safe: Toys must be completely soft, with no hard parts or components that could pose a safety risk.

  • Practical and Pack-Friendly: Please keep toys a manageable size so they can fit comfortably inside a drawstring bag alongside other essential items.

Non-Perishable Food

The need for food support within our community continues to grow year after year, with more individuals and families experiencing hardship and struggling to access the essentials they need.

We are always grateful for donations of non-perishable food items, which help us continue supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity. Items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, breakfast cereals, and other pantry staples, can help provide nourishing meals and ease some of the pressure on households experiencing hardship.

Please donate unopened, in-date, non-perishable food items that can be safely stored without refrigeration.

Please Help Us Keep Donations Safe for Everyone

To make things easier and safer for our volunteers, please:

  • Put heavy items into smaller bags where possible. Some bags are simply too heavy for our volunteers to safely lift and carry.

  • Only donate items that are clean, complete and in good condition.

  • Check that toys are safe, clean and have no missing or broken parts.

Please Do Not Donate:

  • Used underwear

  • Used bathers/swimwear

  • Opened or used toiletries

  • Used toothbrushes

  • Medications

  • Broken, dirty or incomplete toys

  • Dirty or heavily stained clothing

  • Used, unclean bedding

  • Furniture unless requested

  • Baby items unless specifically requested
