2021 Morning Tea for National Volunteer Week

In May we held our inaugural Thank You Morning Tea for National Volunteer Week.

A huge thank you to so many people who've pitched in to help with Bayside Community Emergency Relief's initiatives from the bushfires, through Covid and into the future.

On Friday we hosted a 'Thank You Morning Tea' with Highett Neighbourhood Community House & Community Bank Highett for the community that pleasantly coincided with National Volunteer Week. We announced our Community Partnership with Community Bank Highett and also our Goodwill Ambassador Mark Santomartino, a well loved journalist on 9News.

Thank you to our local traders for donations of goodies for our amazing hampers & goodie bags:

  • Ella Bache Hampton

  • The Hot Bird

  • Sara Fliess Fitness

  • Life.Organised

  • Kalu Co

  • Brad Rowswell MP - Member for Sandringham

  • Sweet Caroline Gingerbread & Biscuits

  • Highett Neighbourhood Community House

  • Bendigo Community Bank Highett

Special thanks to Luca Kocent and Jenny Ellison Gee who gave amazing performances on the day.

Also to Yuri Peress from PY-PHOTO & David Lounds for photography.

Our helpers for the day also deserve our thanks for keeping the wheels in motion: Erica Wearne, Denise Dodd, Lisa Oertle, Tomicka Brook, Rosalind Chamberlain, Vesna Devcic, Katrina Krongold, Nikki Anthony, and the helpers from Highett Neighbourhood Community House.

Our speakers Natalie Driessen-Gerdan from Community Bank Highett (our community partners!), our lovely Deputy Mayor Sonia Castelli from Bayside City Council Victoria, our almost as lovely Brad Rowswell (who donated the calorific chocolate hamper!!) & Kate Knight from Highett Neighbourhood Community House.

Congratulations to our very deserving hamper winners: Margaret Malloch Walker Rosalind Chamberlain & Bec L Mclean. Donated items for our hampers & goodie bags were worth approx $800-$1,000!! A sensational community effort!

Without the help of community volunteers Bayside Community Emergency Relief would not have been able to come to the aid of so many in dire need & we thank you all. Please spread the word about our community charity as the more members we have the more we can help.

It takes a community. #Volunteering Victoria
